A Little History
Crossroads Hobbies and Crafts was founded in 1963 by George E. Black Jr. at Crossroads Mall in Roanoke, VA. George was a WWII fighter pilot starting with Spitfires and then P51 Mustangs. He became a Lt. Colonel in the Air Force. His love of flying led him into flying radio control models and his interest in opening a hobby shop. In 1970 the store was expanded to include crafts. He continued to run the business until 1988. His son Ron Black took over the shop at that time and moved it to Salem, VA to expand the business to a much larger facility that included a gift shop. An indoor RC carpet track was built in the back and was operated until 2000. A smaller track was built and is still operated today. This location is also about a half mile from the local flying field. We pride ourselves in customer service with over 55 years of experience in the hobby industry and 30 years in the craft industry.
